Introduction

Hyperthyreosis during the pregnancy is a rare disease, occurring in about 1: 2000 pregnant patients [4, 7, 8]. The most frequent cause of hyperthyreosis, which can be life-threatening for both mother and the fetus, is the Graves-Basedow disease. A serious complication of hyperthyreosis, the thyroid crisis, can appear during the delivery. In spite of the development of new methods of treatment, the mortality of the thyroid crisis remains very high - up to 20% of cases [5, 8]. Herein we describe the occurrence of the thyroid crisis in a pregnant patient in 28th week of pregnancy.
